The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this chapter and Chapter 5.155 TMC, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:
“Taxicab” means any motor vehicle carrying passengers for hire but not operating on a fixed route.
“Taxicab business” means any person engaged in the business of operating taxicabs.
“Taximeter” means a device that automatically calculates at a predetermined rate or rates and indicates the charge for hire of a vehicle. (Code 1981 § 46-39. Code 1995 § 154-61.)
