The report by the physician shall be immediately forwarded to a physician appointed by the Personnel Director, who shall be designated for the purposes of this chapter as the City medical advisor. If the City medical advisor determines that such employee is physically disqualified from properly performing the duties of a firefighter or police officer, and if reasonable accommodations cannot be provided, the employee shall be retired from service at the end of the month in which such determination is made by the City medical advisor if permitted under applicable pension plan, or terminated.
