It shall be the duty of every police officer present at a fire to keep spectators from the immediate vicinity of the fire and to keep back all persons who are in the way of, or impeding the work of, the Fire Department; to aid so far as possible in protecting all property placed at risk from theft or needless injury; and to cooperate with the Fire Department in every way possible while at the fire under the direction of the Chief of the Fire Department or the person in charge at the fire.
