1208.6.11.1, Pipe Joints, is hereby deleted in its entirety and the following provisions shall be substituted therefor:

Pipe joints shall be threaded, flanged, brazed, welded, or press-connect fittings that comply with CSA LC-4. Where nonferrous pipe is brazed, the brazing materials shall have a melting point in excess of 1,000° F (538° C). Brazing alloys shall not contain more than 0.05 percent phosphorus. (NFPA 54:5.6.8.1) Welded joints on ferrous piping shall be performed by individuals licensed as journeymen in the plumbing or mechanical trade with a current certification of welding competency from a state recognized testing agency. The testing requirements for the welder’s competency shall be based on the requirements of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section IX.
