(a) The Chief of the Fire Department is hereby authorized and directed to enter into mutual assistance pacts with the chiefs of the fire departments of such other cities as the Fire Chief deems advisable and upon such conditions as the Fire Chief deems necessary for the purpose of planning in advance what personnel and equipment of such department will be made mutually available, under the authority of K.S.A. 12-111, upon the occurrence of any emergency.

(b) The Chief of the Fire Department is hereby authorized and directed to cooperate with any State, district or local disaster agency for the purpose of coordinating such mutual assistance pacts with the overall planning of civilian defense. (Code 1981 § 16-1. Code 1995 § 70-1.)
